# Watering vs Overwatering

## The distinction
Needs water means the root zone has dried enough that the plant needs moisture restored. Overwatered means roots have spent too much time without air.

## Compare signals
Dry mix, light pot, and slight leaf droop point toward watering. Wet mix, heavy pot, yellowing, and soft stems point toward root stress.

## Useful next pages
Use [[Watering]] for the routine and [[Pest Identification]] if symptoms include insects or sticky residue.
